On this day, Ts ai Lun would have presented Emperor Han Ho Ti, of the Chinese Han dynasty, with paper samples for the first time. Historical accounts suggest that Ts ai Lun invented paper, although recent archaeological discoveries indicate that this material would have been invented 200 years earlier.
However, from this point on, paper began to be used on a large scale throughout the world.
First, it was used in the region of Korea, Japan and Tibet. It later appeared in the ancestral capitals of Samarkand and Baghadad and throughout the Islamic world, before finally reaching Europe.
