Perhaps controversial take: I'm glad OpenAI (and presumably the others) trained on all the data they could get.
In the same way that, if btc dies, there will never be another opportunity (at least not for decades) of doing a legit non-state money, there will never be a chance to develop these awesome models again that normal people can use. The idea that you can engage with the larger culture -- put your work out in the world -- and reap all the benefits of sharing with humanity, but somehow prevent people from doing what people do, which is absorb the ideas, mutate them, extend them, repackage them -
this is madness. It's a greater tyranny than fiat. The idea that you can't sing "happy birthday" without giving some money to Disney, or the Michael Jackson estate, or whoever owns the rights now, is insane.
Anyway, I have no insight into Altman's psychopathy or other character flaws. But I'm glad the first round of models are trained on the data people put into the world before everyone went in for their pounds of flesh.

I'm just happy this is going to spark a big fight between OpenAI-MSFT and Google/MSM. I'm hoping for some mutual destruction (sadly I think in the end they will all just join together in some revenue sharing agreement).
About the copyright issue, its of course technically absurd to think you can publish your digital bits on YT and then expect that you still retain some type of control over them.

Sam Altman, the most obviously sociopathic CEO since Zuckerberg? Altman the shitcoiner?
Well, I guess he is a good bullshitter and machiavelian manipulator. For those who 'want to believe' in the sci-fi fantasy of 'AI'.
