I think about this sometimes when people ask if SN will lower prices. When prices are high, we owe you something. When prices are low, you owe us something, which is the status quo of social media.

Your attention, your time spent watching garbage advertisements, could be better spent doing the things you love, or make you money.

You could ask yourself: "What's my hourly rate?" If a "free" product or service is not giving you enough value (compare with similar paid products) for the time you sell to them, ditch it - you'd be literally better off taking an extra hour of overtime work and paying for a product that doesn't suck time out of you.

Or the government has no money actually the US is massively in debt over $100k per citizen and any free from the government is paid for via taxes from those who actually work or monetary debasement

I have no objection to this. Thats why I have entirely left using centralized and ad showing media or social medias. Be it news website, Facebook, reddit, Netflix or any other.
