I'm mostly a blue collar worker, didn't have the chance to finish school. I've worked on personal projects and aqquired skills like multimedia editing, vectoring, Unix systems, some scripting languages, vectoring, HTML and CSS. Hopefully someday i'll finally manage to sell my services directly to the final costumer, or work for some business where I can be of service and learn even more. Untill then, i'll wait tables no problem :)

If i can offer you some advice -- learn how to code and write software, and interact with AI models. AI will assist, but never truly replace, programming. Like a graphing calculator, or any tool, it did not take away anything from math, it just enhanced it.
The barrier to entry has never been lower, and tools like jupyter notebook allow you to learn and develop with python in the browser. Have a play with huggingface examples, they are surprisingly easy to get into.
if you dont know where to start with python, I can recommend "Head First Python" by Paul Barry as a good book.
If you can code, it doesn't matter if you finished school -- and doesn't matter where you live. You can work anywhere. You can do this.
Best of luck friend

Is unemployment high in your town?

It feels like so, but summer is coming. Maybe they'll need some more hands soon.
