On the virgin voyage of the Bugle Weekly podcast, @rodpalmer and I discussed the importance of compliance.
Bitcoin will not remain censorship resistant unless we first follow OFAC standards and censor ourselves. If we censor ourselves, they won't censor us and Bitcoin will still be censorship resistant.
That is why the Bugle is looking at using platforms like Coinbase Commerce in order to comply to the maximum possible extent. Coinbase is fighting to comply harder than anyone else and has been for some time.
Would it be worth bringing Brian Armstrong on the team as an advisor to teach us about compliance? Compliance ultimately is the foundation of good journalism, because it allows you to make sure the news you publish is still in line with the intelligence agencies seeking to promote democracy and freedom across the world.
I'm seeking to out complying the bugle. 😜
Great job! Another mind blaster.

How do you plan to outcomply us?
reply
Really? You know I was just kidding.
But in case I seriously make up my mind, I will first buy the biggest bugle from the black market, go to Antartica and let the world know, the honk of my bugle. Next steps would be to leave cigarettes and beers and be a monk in the Himalyas.

TheWildHustle paid a parking ticket, that's as far as TheWildHustle will go.

That's a pretty low level of compliance. Maybe you should consider not making half efforts in furthering Bitcoin adoption.

Seems shortsighted and requires a big chunk of faith. A better alternative is to elect representatives and governments that understand Bitcoin. For them to understand bitcoin a big part of the electorate needs to understand and value what Bitcoin offers. For that to happen lots of effort in education is required, not just related to bitcoin, but also freedom and fundamental human rights.

I agree. That is why the work Dennis Porter is doing to orange pill Washington is so important. They can really assist on the compliance side of things. The IRS should work with hardware wallet companies for a collaborative custody solution to make sure people aren't not paying their taxes

Dennis Porter deserves a statue in his honour. Satoshi would approve.

sharing a great quote representing my solution: " learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist. "
