So, I usually read @DarthCoin's excellent guides and one among them is how to set up a cold wallet with TailsOS and a USB stick.
My question is simple, actually: TailsOS does not work on ARM processors. Right now I absolutely cannot afford to buy another computer, used or otherwise. Are there any good ways to setup a cold wallet using the arm macbooks? I was thinking of using maybe NixOS or even Asahi, but since TailsOS has all these security features, I was unsure about it.
If you can't afford another computer, I would say a hot, passphrase protected wallet in your laptop should provide a reasonable amount of safety for the size of your stack.
I concur with this. Keep it simple.
See this article. It should work on the mac.
Bitcoin and Cold Storage using VeraCrypt
This is nice.
Another option is to create a new wallet, save the seed and the xpub into a password manager (Keepass or Bitwarden) and save that password manager db onto an encrypted USB. You can encrypt the USB drive with your mac.
Now, you can use that xpub (only for deposits) in any other wallet app that support watch-only: Electrum, Sparrow, Bluewallet, Sentinel, Green wallet etc
Huh. That's actually a nice idea. I'll try that then. Thanks a lot!
was explained in one of my guides too
