Ernest Ranglin OJ OD (born 19 June 1932) is a Jamaican guitarist and composer who established his career while working as a session guitarist and music director for various Jamaican record labels including Studio One and Island Records. Ranglin played guitar on many early ska recordings and helped create the rhythmic guitar style that defined the form. He is noted for a chordal and rhythmic approach that blends jazz, mento and reggae with percussive guitar solos incorporating rhythm 'n' blues and jazz inflections.
[Verse 1]
Hey, brother
There's an endless road to rediscover
Hey, sister
Know the water's sweet but blood is thicker
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you, there's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
[Verse 2]
Hey, brother
Do you still believe in one another?
Hey, sister
Do you still believe in love?
I wonder
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you, there's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
[Chorus]
What if I'm far from home?
Oh brother, I will hear you call
What if I lose it all?
Oh sister, I will help you out
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you, there's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
This song is featured on the soundtrack of the TV show Sons of Anarchy. I like to research the origins of songs sometimes, and I found out that this one is about Baghdad.
If you've got a whole range of musical moods. Then I think you're going to enjoy hanging out in this territory. Our dailys and weekly posts are stacked of really cool stuff, I've personally expanded my own collection loads with submissions (and then a bit of rabbit hole diving) from the users of this space. It's a good place to be.
I've found a few good songs on here already! There's a wide variety of genres on display some days. It's really rewarding when someone posts something from a more obscure artist that I've never heard of.
I listen in a lot of genres but I tend to be fairly picky about the songs I like for some reason. Maybe it's normal, but sometimes one of my favorite artists can put an album out and I only like about half of the tracks! It's not normally that bad though. Fortunately we're spoiled for choice, and curating a massive playlist of your favorites is easier than ever.
Any song that begins by talking about having a tall can of beer in his hand is, by definition, country. That would be the case even if it sounded like Debussy.
