I love lightning, but it has a ways to go. So does Bitcoin.
I personally believe that this will be mostly solved with the invention of Fedimint. We need to obfuscate the complexity of using these protocols. Right now, it takes many hours of study to both understand Bitcoin, and then use it / custody it properly. Those two things are highly correlated.
That learning curve needs to become less sharp, the same way it did for using the internet. Not everyone wants to deeply understand Bitcoin, and without that driver they will almost never get to a place of owning and securing it properly.
I guess what I am saying is eventually the pattern needs to reserve itself. We need to make it so easy to own and hold Bitcoin that people own it first, and learn about it later. Eventually there will be masses of people who have and use Bitcoin, but don't really know anything about it. That is the world we are all working so hard to create.
