Group B was definitely insane, there were basically no limitations on how the cars were built. Unfortunately, due to the difficulty of controlling so much power and the lack of safety on the tracks, accidents happened. There was a very serious one in the Sintra mountains.
Everything is almost ready for May :), after so many years following the event, I've come to the conclusion that this is not about cars, it's about pilgrimage 😂 I know people who go a week early just to be in the best spots, madness!
Did Ken Block ever participate in any WRC event?
Those cars were very impressive, especially compared to other cars of the time. I can't imagine what they would come up with if they ran the same ruleset in this era.
That's amazing that people set up that early, they are certainly very dedicated to the sport! It would be amazing to spectate a WRC event someday, although I would miss the streaming coverage when the cars weren't passing by!
Ken did run in some WRC events for a few seasons, and I believe Travis Pastrana was another driver that ran in several events.
