Same here! It’s only when I lived in Japan n interacted with Caucasians that I realised how eating too much rice might cause diabetes haha. So do the Portuguese eat rice every day or it is just you?

It's not just me. Here in Portugal, rice and potatoes are the staple foods 😂 In 2023, the average Portuguese person ate 16 kg of rice, which is 4 times more than the European average. I think this has to do with Portugal's long-standing relationship with Japan 😂
