I love stacking sats as much as the next guy :) Ever since I went down the bitcoin rabbit hole, I can't stop myself from evaluating every purchase I'm about to make, just to be sure I'm not going to buy something useless and miss a chance to expand my sats balance. Whenever a friend of mine gets a vacuum food sealer or an electric pepper grinder which are then used just once, I ask myself - How do I make him/her feel bad about what they just did? (not to say that a vacuum food sealer or an electric pepper grinder are useless - the mere fact they aren't used at all makes them useless) Anyways, if you're asking yourself a similar question, here's a way to shame them: Hand them a useless shit card :) You can download one from UselessShit.co and print it yourself :)
It's a project I've made for fun and as a mean to learn React (Angular dev here).
Also I'd love to hear your story of a dumb purchase someone you know has made :)
Here's one from testimonials section:
My pal went shopping to buy shorts but came back with two pairs, additional two pairs of trousers and four t-shirts. When I found out about it, a voice started rumbling in my head. Perhaps it was the voice of Satoshi. I asked him if he at least got some sats back for the unexpected purchase. No - he replied - but the offer was practically a steal. I saved about 40%. But did he? - I then asked myself, and the voice became louder. That's when I realized it wasn't Satoshi speaking to me, but rather an urging need to shame him. If only I could make him feel bad about what he just did... Do something that would affect his emotions stronger than words... And then, I found out about www.uselessshit.co Now I carry with me at least a dozen of the useless-shit cards and whenever someone makes a dumb purchase, I am prepared! Thanks uselessshit.co!
PS. https://uselesshit.co is open source, so feel free to contribute or make a fork and modify it to your needs :)
I like the concept but not the idea, Gigi idea makes more sense because it goes towards those who don't accept Bitcoin.
but this is more attacking your friends for spending HIS MONEY.

Thanks for taking your time and giving a honest opinion. I really appreciate it :) I guess maybe the tone I used is offensive but that was not the intent - I rather wanted it to be about learning the importance of saving in bitcoin, not to make fun of someone's purchases. Would you say that something can be done to make it more encouraging or you think the whole idea should be scored out from the start?

Kudos on taking the constructive criticism so well! I agree that an attacking tone may set off a defensive reaction among friends you share this with. I think approaching it from a more positive standpoint would be appropriate. Maybe something along the lines of depicting regular everyday items of different values like a toaster, an iPad and a car and how they have changed over time in BTC terms and Fiat money terms (USD vs Indian Rupee vs Turkish Lira, for example). I like the idea of having them on business cards to hand out at restaurants, or to friends.

Thanks for the great suggestions :) I might have an idea on how to implement them! Will post an update once done. Appreciate the effort! All the best :)

Maybe don’t call Bitcoin “sats” and use so much jargon. Otherwise I love the idea of shaming your (close) friends who buy a bunch of shit/have shopping habits. Such a waste, buy Bitcoin and less shit goes to the landfill as well… win win

Thanks for the suggestions :) The reason it says 'sats' is because of the decimal places, but perhaps there could be two variations of the card - one that says sats and the other that says bitcoin. Also thinking about adding a FAQ section, so things can be clarified for newcomers. Additionally I might split cards into two categories - one for close friends (who can take the offensive tone) and the other for everyone else (as suggested by @sb in this thread).
