Can’t believe ESPN+ played the blackout card on me tonight. Like wtf now I can’t watch the game! Super annoying why not just charge me a fee to watch! Ugh 😩

I have this problem sometimes in Canada where a game I want to watch say on MLB network will not be available because it is on one of the random sports channels I don’t subscribe to. I get if it’s on the main sportsnet channel that it gets blacked out but when it’s only on the 5th sportsnet channel that you need to pay seperately to subscribe to it shouldn’t be blacked out.

I know it’s so annoying

It's so outrageous.
Think how much money teams would make if they could at least have a pay-per-view option for their games.
I spend way too much mental energy thinking about how stupid all these "rights" deals are in our current environment. Just sell a bunch of different subscription bundles directly to fans! It doesn't have to be this hard.

In my country all the rights to most sports are held by only one platform, and the subscription price is quite expensive, nowadays they try to monopolize everything.

Do you at least get to watch everything?
reply
No, logically, no, but it's sad to think that 20 years ago you could access it on free TV, and now you can't watch any sport for free, but hey, that's what we have.
reply
Ours is crazy expensive, too. At least for NFL we got to watch everything with the right YouTube TV package.

I think we have the same problem, I access through websites like "PirloTv" in which you access the streaming of the matches through links, a bit complicated, but I am not going to pay the crazy prices to watch a football or tennis match.

Especially with streaming!
