My daughter's a on the border of Z/Millennial, and she loves music, but the folks a little younger than her that she knows don't, so there's at least something going on.

I love watching Rick Beato. I think what he does is so important. Music is so incredibly important to me. I feel sad that a lot of younger people do not seem to have the connection I feel with it. I miss the days of intentionally sitting down and listening to an album all the way through. I do my best to expose my kids to a lot of great music. It will never be the same as when it was when I was growing up. Pre-internet, it was such a big deal. Its a strange world we live in.

I feel like in the age of 30second sound bites on tiktok that the problem is they no longer have the attention span to listen to a whole track let alone a whole album.
The problem with the ability to have instant endorphins is after 30seconds you want more. So the attention span suffers.

Yeah, Tiktok is the first social media thing that makes me feel actually old. Like, I don't use or really grok Snapchat or Tumblr, but I get how the kids use it and why. But Tiktok combines short attention span BS with completely ceding control of what you consume to a degree beyond even other algorithm-driven things. I feel like you have to be indoctrinated in it to get it.

I'm glad I never got into using it. But I see how people do find themselves doomscrolling looking for that next hit of endorphins.

Yeah. It seems like the evolution of infinite scrolling (which I'm so glad is not the way SN is set up).
