Less than a year ago I learned to what extent we do not actually own stocks. We own claims on stocks held by clearing-houses. Some claim it's illegal to own the actual stocks in certain jurisdictions.
Well, Susanne Trimbath basically goes into how Mortgage Backed Securities to some extent were just "BS" without the Mortgages backing them. Also claims there's a huge amount of fractional reserve equity (my term) - Brokers making it appear as if you bought a stock, but if you are a smaller investor, you might not actually own it (not even the L1 claim it seems). I knew Robinhood did something like this, but apparently it has been going on for much longer. Further she goes into how to own stocks closely to the real thing as possible.
Yes yes, store more purchasing power in Bitcoin, but can be good to have a tiny hedge of stocks (erhm.. or at least "stocks").
