I generally spend a lot of time on my phone, so I decided to limit my usage of it.
I found in settings that you can enable screen time limits for certain apps, so I tried it out. I also found out that you can remove colours from your iPhone screen. Decided to try that out as well. In addition to that, I also deleted all my social media apps. Even my Nostr clients.
--- One week later: My thoughts ---
I’ve definitely been spending way less time on my phone. I’m finding the grayscale colour scheme to be very helpful in limiting my phone usage. How I see it, it essentially makes me want to spend less time on my monotonous phone screen and more time enjoying the natural colours of the real world. The phone is already in dark mode, so I assume that I’m saving a ton of additional battery throughout the day. Since my phone is basically a dumb phone at this point, I pretty much only use it for calling, texting, checking emails, setting alarms, Google maps, calculator, and other basic tasks.
I’d definitely recommend others to at least try it out for a few days. You can always go back to the way it was before. It’s up to you.
What are your thoughts?
Awesome. I want to do something like this. I want to feel less attached to my phone.
