I would move except for my mother. She likes the weather in California. After my dad passed, I paused my plan to move to another state

My theory is California is so terrible because the weather is so good. If the weather were worse, people wouldn't put up with it and they'd leave.
reply
Very true.
Also my mother is semi retired and my dad built a nice nest egg. She is not rich but she is comfortable. She also gets social security and Medicare.
I pitched Arizona and Texas to her, her response was too hot 🥵
I am not going to force my mom to relocate even if I could.
On the other hand I know recent retirees who moved to Texas and Arizona and Florida and are extremely happy with their relocation.
These folks also follow politics. My mother does not. She is politically right but I have to tell her how to vote
reply
Arizona for the win. I might be biased. You tell her to vote Bitcoin right?
reply
I tell her but bitcoin is a blind spot for her.
My cousin lives in Glendale AZ
reply
It is for many. Paradigm shifts aren't easy. I know Glendale well. I lived and worked in the Phoenix area for 25 years.
reply
Where do you recommend in AZ? It's on our radar as a possible place to relocate.
reply
As far as big cities go, I like Tucson. Sedona is pretty but super touristy. Flagstaff and Payson area are great if you like cooler weather and forest. We are going south to Cochise county right near the border. We like that area because we can build freely there without permits and rules. And we want to be away from the bigger populated areas.
reply
Thanks. I think my preference would be the Northeast area, but we'd like to see prices come down first.
reply
What makes you think prices will come down?
reply
I'm expecting a housing market crash. Whether it will hit AZ, though, I'm not at all sure. There's so much real demand from all the CA refugees, that prices might stay where they're at or continue rising.
