I still fail to understand why it is so difficult to selfcustody. But apparently it is. Most humans and even corporations and institutions buy ETHs with associated fees and government rugpull risks. And the ETHs gives the control of their BTC to Coinbase. Apparently because then they don´t have to keep track of their password and do a backup. I don't think most humans understand the "tax" that they pay in order to not have to selfcustody.
The unfortunate effect of this is yet again we are suffering from centralisation (MtGox, Coinbase, Greyscale, BlackRock, ...) with incredible volatility as another side-effect. Sometimes I silently hope Coinbase loses their keys or that somebody inside steals them.
People are apparently genetically wired to not take their own responsibility. Always blame the system or politicians. Always think they can "sue" if there is a problem. This will cost them dearly and maybe they deserve it.
