Coffee is very important to me and my lifestyle. As many of you know, I work on the night shift. Drinking coffee throughout the night, especially during breaks, helps calm the nerves. But I want to ask everyone, what kind of coffee is best? Is there a certain brew style I should be trying? Is there a certain type of bean I should try? Im getting to the age where I enjoying coffee for being coffee, not a fufu drink that I get at Starbucks. Not that there is anything wrong with Starbucks. I know most of you bitcoiners are coffee drinkers, tell me your opinion!
The writer Laurell K. Hamilton wrote in one of her novels "I'd never met coffee that wasn't wonderful. It was just a matter of how wonderful it was."
That's largely my take. I do have some bean preferences (I like a lot of Ethiopian ones), but I feel that's a personal taste, much like wine or beer. The best thing you can do is try different ones and see what notes and flavors and roast styles work for you.
Brew styles depend on a bunch of things. I have some very coffee snob friends who swear by french press and other fancy gadgets, and I can't deny that they coffee I've had at their place is amazing.
That said, the last thing I want to do when I need coffee is anything complicated. I use a very good drop coffeemaker, and I grind my beans right before brewing. Clean the coffeemaker regularly, keep the beans in an airtight container, and you've hit the major concerns (we have very good water here, but if you don't, get a filter).

I love coffee but haven’t been bothered to know the various types. I think my taste buds are not sensitive enough to discern the nuances in the first place, hence my lack of motivation haha
I like my coffee black and strong. I actually switched my coffee habit after living in Japan for two years. Previously, I liked my coffee with condensed milk. Okay, don’t cringe. But drinking plain-tasting coffee day in day out has made me acquire a taste for black coffee.
Do you like Japanese coffee? Some people - especially the Aussies, I think - think it is piss poor of a drink - too watery haha

I like milk with a little sugar and coffee. Japan has many kinds like that. I like the UCC, and Pokka. There are a bunch of other kinds, but usually I stick to those. Wonda is another one. Or is it spelled Wanda? I cant remember. I used to drink the Boss Black, I thought that was pretty smooth for being in a can. Im a bit surprised you found such an old post!
