To get a more fair comparison you'd have to look at their reported food/restaurant inflation rate. CPI includes several different products/services.

A good quality ribeye is as expensive as fast food now. Let that sink in.

It's really shitty to consider that all the hardworking people, the barbers, car washers, fast food workers etc. who want to exchange their labor for wages, have lost my business without any drop in the quality of the products.

If someday i run my own business, i will accept payments with bitcoin.

I actually went to Chipotle today. Lunch for two was about $20, which seems pretty reasonable today, but probably would have seemed outrageous 10 years ago.

At the risk of seeming a hypocrite, my usual advice is that you're almost always going to be better off, from both a health and budget standpoint, by just skipping the meal, rather than eating any of that crap.

I know there's a joke in here somewhere about Costco offsetting all of this data and explaining the CPI figure, but I can't find a way to say it that doesn't make it look like I don't know Costco is a centralized institution.

US government lies for homes, education, jobs, logistics, and now they are lying about food as well.

In fact, they lie about everything, almost everything. It all started with the Clinton–Lewinsky scandal was a sex scandal, where everyone lied in the government. 🤣😜

I could count on one hand the number of times I've been to an Arby's before this year -- either an Arbys wasn't nearby or there were other fast food outlets that I preferred, so I don't remember what their prices used to be. But lately I've found them to be the only remaining affordable fast food option, assuming you are willing to buy the same thing every day (or their loss-leader special, no drink, no fries).

But I used to go days on end where the BK Whopper two for $6 (or was it $5 even??) was my primary daily nourishment. I haven't been inside a BK in over a year or more since I last saw their menu prices.

Not the results I would expect...McDonalds makes sense with huge brand power but Taco Bell? I thought they would cheap out with more filler while Chick-Fil-A has kept quality high so I would expect higher inflation. (I can't pay for my family at Chick fil a inde $50 today!)

One McDonald’s apple pie is 1.99….two used to be 99 cents.
