Disclaimer: I'm not all-in on Jaynes. Some of these numbers are speculative. That is not the point. Regardless of Jaynes' chronological accuracy or inaccuracy, the points he's making about the hemispheres and the Neo-cortex are fascinating and revealing. Wallace does an incredible breakdown (get it?) here of Julian Jaynes's book, The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind. Below is a rant off the cuff because this is what it's like.

I hope I get my sats back for this. I'm 60. I've been busting my ass and fighting corruption my entire adult life, and the only thing it looks like I'm going to get for it is some American bridge to live under. There is no way most people would survive what these people do to people like me when we whistleblow and expose their crimes. It doesn't have to be like this.

Please be vigilant. Don't give up. Don't let this happen to our country any more. You're all arguing but the people leading the argument are all on the same team. I'm proud of my decisions, but they are very good at ruining and destroying a life. Please do not forget this. Three - four people focusing can destroy the life of a corrupt politician. 100 with half the focus can do a lot more. Stop behaving as though you are powerless. You have immense and incredible power with your Constitution when you use it. Citizenship is an OFFICE, treat it like one before they take away your right to even do that. Stop acting like they've won. The power of citizenship is real. People complain about losing their rights, but they never even try to fucking use them!
