they kinda remind me of a mixture of like iced earth and amon amarth.
ah ok. i'd heard of celtic frost during the early 2000s but didnt realise they used to be Helhammer and then became Triptykon!
download fest has become the same, as has the reading and Leeds festivals, i mean Reading used to be reading rock. now its just commercialised stuff and the atmosphere is very very different.
Triptykon is half of Celtic Frost, it's Tom G. "Warrior" Fisher without Martin (bass player, R.I.P.). He also did Hellhammer reunion tour recently, saw them live.
Interesting thing is that I always liked Hellhammer, but it took some time for me to understand what is so great about Celtic Frost. And then you also start hearing Darkthrone differently.
ooooooof Darkthrone aswell, these are names ive not heard in years.
Darkthrone released new single two days ago, album coming out soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqUTjPhCIS0
Norwegian metal just hits different 🤘
It's basically simple - Helhammer (1982 - 1984) -> Celtic Frost (1984 - 2008) -> Triptykon (2008 - present).
Wacken isn't what it used to be anymore, more commecial. But still worth going at least once if you haven't been there before IMHO.
