My grandmother used to tell me that when the fox wants to eat the chickens, it spoils them first. At night it approaches the henhouse or goes under the trees where they sleep and begins to cluck like a chicken, full of sweetness. It imitates the sound of a rooster before sexual seduction. The chickens can't stand it and jump from the trees.
A similar scene is described in the epic poem The Odyssey. The Achaeans had entered the belly of the horse and Helen approached the horse. She suspected that there were warriors in the belly of the horse. And she begins to mimic the voices of their women. She begins to beg, to plead... All the soldiers are ready to go out. Even Diomedes almost bursts into tears. But Odysseus forced him to be silent.
The fox ate the chickens, but the Achaeans were not tempted and burned Troy.
