Thanks! @hodlpleb mentioned these in a post recently (#505115) and I've been meaning to dive more into them.

I jumped in and bought two Heltec V3 devices. So far i'm sending messages to myself but planning to establish a link a mesh between my house and some family members.

Would a huge pleb mesh network be impractical?
And are internet mesh networks a thing, or is radio the best option?
On a side note, this looks wild.

You can use MQTT to connect devices over the internet, but I think defeats the point of LORA. At the moment I'm finding that the hills in my area are problematic, even for communicating "short" distance. Am hopeful that I can get line-of-sight to my family that is 5 miles away, but we may have to put antennas on the roofs.

The whole meshtastic thing has been a blind spot, nowadays I have my hands full with Nix Os, Coding, and pleb freelancing, but I'll continue dropping any resources I come across.
