Sensei tried to ignore the hunger pangs and growing headache that dampen his spirits. It was Friday afternoon - and he had left work as soon as he could so that he could attend an ultrasound checkup at the polyclinic. Not exactly the usual celebratory TGIF vibe that embraced him on Fridays.
He had accomplished the milestone of 800k sats a couple of days ago but lacked the time to really settle down and blog about it. It was an interesting week, to say the least. This Wednesday, four personnel from the Ministry of Education Headquarters came to observe his lesson, so his cognitive energy was all expended trying to make sure that he didn’t embarrass himself too badly. The lesson observation came and went, and he then busied himself with planning a gamified lesson. The room looked like this today:
The lesson went reasonably well. The hour flew in a flash, and his students seemed engrossed for the most part. More importantly, he discovered their learning gaps. They didn’t know that certain verbs are spelt the same in their past and present tense forms. This caused them to be stumped at the second task.
Since his mind was preoccupied with teaching matters, he didn’t have the time to muse about SN or ponder about parenting. His last few posts were written in a bid for him to prepare his lessons properly.
He actually might have reached the milestone of 800k sats if he had kept to his usual posting topics. But this week taught him something quite exhilarating - his personal life and professional life can converge together on Stacker News. There is synergy between the different aspects of his life. He blogs to get ahead of his workday; he discharges his work duties, feeling more prepared; and he comes home to a fuller SN wallet. The virtuous cycle continues.
One thing’s for sure. He was keen to introduce SN personally to his real-life contacts so that he could streamline some of his work processes. He was certain that he would come up with a breakthrough soon.
Sensei looked up from his phone. He had finished his ultrasound but was now waiting for his blood test. His growling stomach threatened to erupt out of protest. He could no longer continue his writing.
Thus, the abrupt end. He hoped that he would soon post about stacking 900k sats on Stacker News!
