@Coinsreporter gave me the idea for this post with his awesome fact about a football (soccer) stadium in Brazil that has the equator as midfield. Check out his post here. #511384
One of my favourite baseball stadiums is PetCo park in San Diego. I caught a game there and did a tour of the park around a decade ago. I absolutely loved it. Here is one very cool feature about that stadium:
"The upper deck offers a fun view of the game below (bring binoculars!) and a breathtaking vista of the cityscape beyond. The secret, however, is to turn around. Climb to the top of the upper deck and look behind the stadium. You'll get a unique view of the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, and if the day is clear enough you can see Mexico and a couple of its islands in the distance."
I did not get to do this from the upper deck seats but during the stadium tour I did get to see this sightline from the exterior upper concourse. Pretty unique and incredible to see another country from a stadium.
What are cool stadium features that you enjoy? Preferably to stadiums you have visited but it's ok if not.
Sats for all, GR
(mlb survivor pool post for week 4 coming from @MLBofficialscorer shortly)
If the Heat lose tonight, the playoff survivor pool will be over before the playoffs even start.

I didn’t realize it was such a quick turnaround before the first round games. Gonna need to be quick on the picks and a first round pick em.
reply
It's looking pretty good for you and Siggy advancing. I'll do the round 1 post bright and early tomorrow. I might even write it tonight.

And I thought the NCAA pool was bad. I am assuming Jimmy Buckets is playing but I wonder if he will be limited. I am a little concerned.
reply
But on the bright side. We can just start fresh with the real playoffs, so maybe not the worst outcome for the pool. I am sure you would rather see the Heat win.
reply
Either way the Celtics will never know if they could have gotten past Jimmy this year. Banner 18 will have a great big asterisk.
reply
They are still not winning. Knicks are taking them out.
I didn't realize were were talking in my post from today. I just clicked your reply in notifications and then I was scrolling through recent and saw my post and thought "damn 6 comments already-awesome". Then I clicked it and realized it was just talking NBA. Haha.

Are the Knicks your hope de-jour? Whatever happens with Boston, Denver would kill them.
reply
Knicks, Bucks, Cavs, 76ers, doesn't matter. Someone will slay the dragon. Nuggets aren't getting to the finals. It has been written. SGA is bring the title back to Canada where it belongs.
reply
Nope. Playoff Jimmy is out for a couple of weeks with an MCL sprain.
reply
Oh no. Herro better have a hell of a game. I don't trust Bam. I don't know why. I like him but I don't feel like he can carry at team even against the garbage Bulls. Derozan will come to play.
reply
Bam's like a discount Garnett. If he dominates a game, it's probably through disruptive defense and a few timely buckets. Herro's exactly the kind of irrational confidence guy who can pick up the scoring load if he happens to get hot.

I like both the cardinals and the diamondbacks stadiums. Very new and modern good seating!
Jerry world is Dallas was pretty nice as well. Some may different amenities. Costly but still never nice venue.
The jets and giants stadium is a concrete box with little to no frills. Sad to see NYC teams go so cheap!
reply
Hopefully the new Bills stadium has some really cool features.
reply
Thank you so much.
The stadium you talking about is a beautiful one. I like it.
Here's a picture.

Yes a beautiful stadium.

I toured Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Real Madrid’s stadium. It was wild. Felt like Fenway or Wrigley in that there’s so much history that they continue to renovate rather than build new. But the coolest thing, which is more recent, is the field system. The field is basically divided into rows that can move and be stored underground to be replaced by newer grass. The mechanics of this system are nuts.

Should add, I toured it over a decade ago.

That is really cool.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers pirate ship in the stands. That's really cool!
And obviously the greatest stadium in the NFL. US Bank stadium home of The Minnesota Vikings, and the giant Gjallarhorn! That's pretty novel too!
reply
That is a really impressive stadium. I thought the bills were just going to copy it but they went for the no roof option. More Snowballs!
reply
I thought they would too. With the NFL putting more emphasis on "player safety" I'd have expected almost all new stadiums to have a roof, or at least a retractable roof. Especially for teams that have to deal with real weather... (No cardinals thats not you 🤣) .
Snow games might be funny to watch but they're dangerous, one poor plant of the foot and a bad cut and bam, say bye bye to your ACL or your Achilles. Plus the fans having to stand there in a blizzard, come on NFL, why no roof?
