Noting this for a few reasons:
  1. It was one of the higher-profile social media alternatives to launch post TwitMusk, and was certainly more prominent than BlueSky at the beginning.
  2. It's one of the few sites to try offering the ability to tip/pay for content. Of course, it was in "points" which were 1-to-1 with fiat pennies. Which should say something. Also, the how do I cash out faq is 404. Hope no one through cash in there and found a rug.
  3. As the headline notes, it's an a16z jam, and should serve as a reminder that their ideas are shit (and of course that includes "a16z Crypto").
Just checked the account I'd created back in late '22, and everyone I'd been following there (mostly assorted writers) had left more than a year ago for other platforms.

It had a lot of publicity for about a month (while it was also still invite-only), then faded fast.
