Console games before the generation of PS3 and similar were the best.
Once the game was shipped, that was it. No updates. It was the same, forever.
Also you could play the games immediately, no waiting for updates of the game or the console.
Now console games are basically PC games ported to a custom made PC, shipped half-finished, with hundreds of Gigabytes in updates and micropayments.
I still remember Metal Gear Solid's psycho mantis reading my memory card and making comments about the other games I had in there...

It's a miracle any game was made back then when they literally had to make circuits and be extremely resourceful with processing, power and memory. Makes me appreciate old games even more.
