Now that round 1 game 1 is over for both NBA and NHL playoffs, did any team or any player surprise you? Or did anything happen that you found particularly interesting?
I was surprised by Haliburton's triple single. Hopefully he plays better in the rest of the series. I was also surprised by Dame dropping 35 in the first half then go on to have 0 in the second half. And although entertaining, I was surprised by how close the OKC vs Pels game was. I thought OKC was going to destroy them, but I guess I was wrong, again amongst many other things.
Canucks won game 1. I didn't watch the game, but did jump onto the highlights. It's great to see Rogers Arena packed and everyone waving the towel again. The city feels more alive when the Canucks are playing well.
I don't know that any individual thing surprised me. Maybe how well the Bucks played without Giannis and the Clippers played without Kawhi but was just surprised overall by the fact that not one road team won.

I think Ernie said on Inside the NBA that it was the first time since 2013 that every home team won round 1 game 1 of the NBA playoffs.

It's odd that out of 14 games not one road team won. I wouldn't have expected a lot of road teams to win, they are on the road for a reason but you would think between the two sports a couple would have. Although NHL still has two first round game ones to go so maybe it won't be a clean sweep just a weekend sweep.

Like you said, it would be interesting if this was a clean sweep for the home teams for both NBA and NHL. For today's 2 hockey games, I think the Oilers will be able to defend home ice, but the Golden Knights might have a chance of taking a road win from the Stars. We shall see.
