The Bitcoin community can learn a lot from Moneros Lack of Pool diversification. Let's not do the same mistakes.

This.
Really would like to get @sethforprivacy take on this.
I very much enjoy the Monero community and think of them as a cousin to Bitcoin. Both communities are militant in their defense of their core values. Bitcoin can learn a lot from Monero and implement similar solutions on L2

What's with the dunking on Monero? They have a decentralized mining pool. The centralized pools are obsoleted. So how isn't this good?
reply
Agreed. Monero has P2Pool peer to peer mining.
reply
TBF they have an actually functional P2Pool. We honestly need one too.
reply
Monero is the only community apart from Bitcoin that is truly trying to eliminate centralized control in ANY way
reply
We regret to inform our valued miners that the pool will be closing on August 12. We thank you for being a part of the pool and your continued support.
Please reconfigure your miners to use a different pool before this date. Any miners that are not updated before August 12 will stop working.
We recommend transitioning to the decentralised p2pool. There are no pool fees when using p2pool and the decentralised pool helps to support the Monero network.
Any remaining pending rewards left after the pool closes will be sent automatically.
Any queries please contact support@minexmr.com
So long and thanks for all the blocks

I think it's sort of harsh to shit on Monero in this way.
Monero community is focused on privacy and isn't a typical pump and dump coin. It's probably the only coin and community worth considering when trying to learn about new things
Disclaimer: I have never bought anything else beyond Bitcoin but think Monero is full of very smart individuals who value privacy as much as Bitcoin values immutable ownership and supply verification
reply
Yeah I get that but why when anyone brings up that no one can tell you the issuance and supply of it, everyone just goes quiet, there's no point in monero having a coin then, it should just be a payment layer

What they gotta say that the biggest CENTRALIZED pool voluntarily shut down and told people to switch to a DECENTRALIZED pool?
Are you in crack boy ๐Ÿ˜‚
reply
Lol what about security you larp?
reply
Isnt this good for decentralisation though

This is a low-value response. If Bitcoin can learn one thing from any other coin, it's Monero.
The community in Monero is laser focused on privacy and protecting human rights; it's a community worth respecting (vs something like Ethereum where most of the project and pump and dumps)
