we should make effort to establish, when speaking with others: What is this "PROTECTION" from?
it's not so much protection from as it is PROHIBITION OF GOVERNMENT ACTION. the language of 'protection' implies weakness, that needs shielding. we should fundamentally reject that premise. the people hold the power, and to the extent that we grant authority to the government, we do so by prohibiting certain behaviors of that government.
