These are great for conferences... It would be amazing if all presenters doing technical talks also put zines like this in the lobby, so folks can get quickly up to speed while listening.

@satsie, I just sent you sats from the stackers. They're well deserved.

Thanks for sharing about it.
Before this I could only relate zines to this. https://wizardzines.com/

Why remove the maga?

It's not a new concept.
Zines evolved from fanzines, which were self-published and distributed works that came out of the gaming and science fiction communities in the '60s. This in turn led into the punk era, when zines could be dedicated to anything from music to politics to personal essays. Because they were always produced essentially on copy machines and hand-distributes, the name "zine" stuck because they were clearly not as professional as "real" magazines. Zines ended up becoming something of their own subculture for a while, especially leading up to and in the early days of the web.

Yes, I know it isn't new. The dialog is, though.

Ah, I think the person running the site was just being cute.

The real reason is my son is obsessed with the movie Cars and the scene where Larry the Cable Guy introduces his character as “I’m Mater, like tomater, without the tuh!” lives rent free in my head 😭

There were many things I loved about parenting during the early years. Watching the same movie 79 times in a row was not one of them.
