if joinmarket had pool sizes like whirlpool it would slay

reply

the 5x5 whirlpool design was so neat and elegant

Whirlpool was actually incredible block space inefficient. Creating a bigger coinjoin provides more privacy for all participants in the transaction. Hiding is far more effective when there's a bigger crowd to hide in, like Wasabi's coinjoins: 0b97ef8972a2e488671e202f3e3b8ababc76099751c95610afef8c2f271d98e6

Or you can participate in more than one coinjoin

reply

Multiple big coinjoins is still better than multiple small coinjoins, this scaling property does not go away with successive transactions.

you do you boo

JoinMarket does not have concept of pools and coinjoin rounds.

reply

Yes indeed. I like the design of Whirlpool. And the decentralized nature of Joinmarket. But I don't like the randomness of Joinmarket. With Whirlpool you know what you're going to end up with on the other side of the coinjoin
