definition of the word debate:
a generally formal and often public discussion of a topic, during which persuasive arguments from differing sides of an issue are presented.
I do not need to hold reverence in order to hold a discussion. However, I am absolutely willing to close this conversation down if you are not comfortable talking to someone who has a differing opinion.
