Belgium is a remarkable country in many respects. It is deeply divided politically and ethnically and it pursues a fiscal policy that is reminiscent of the United States these days or of the fundamental debt-induced behavior of southern European countries. The debt level of around 105% in relation to gross domestic product, coupled with widening government deficits, bodes ill for the eurozone and the stability of the common currency, the euro.
The deeply divided domestic politics make it seem almost impossible that this country will be confined to a path of stability in the foreseeable future. The proximity to EU politics in Brussels is of little help, considering that the EU has long since switched to viewing politics purely as a means of skimming off the citizens in order to implement the strange ideology of climate madness.
