I can't say whether this is a positive or negative development, but it seems to be an attempt to safeguard the interests of American electric vehicle manufacturers. While I can't confirm any political connections, it's certainly a possibility worth considering.

That's totally fair.
I'm not asserting a motivation, but if they really believed EV's would help us solve the "Climate Emergency", then you'd expect them to cheer when China makes more affordable EV's.
If this is a crony scam, then you'd expect them to protect domestic manufacturer profits above all else.

It has never been about the climate, it was about their own interests and undermining our rights and opportunities. The climate is just another trap to reduce our power, if we have much of that left.
