Finished my reading of Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution: The Remarkable True Story of the American Capitalists Who Financed the Russian Communists. I was...shocked. Every little thing we learned about capitalism against communism is pure bullshit.
Some facts I learned, don't worry, no spoilers here:
  • Trotsky, while visiting New York, acquired an excellent apartment in New York—paying rent three months in advance—and they had use of a chauffered limousine.
  • In April 1917 Lenin and a party of 32 Russian revolutionaries, mostly Bolsheviks, journeyed by train from Switzerland across Germany through Sweden to Petrograd, Russia. They were on their way to join Leon Trotsky to “complete the revolution.” Their trans-Germany transit was approved, facilitated, and financed by the German General Staff.
  • The Washington Post of February 2, 1918, carried the following paragraphs: [William Thompson] GIVES BOLSHEVIKI A MILLION...yes sir, Wall Street collaborated directly and with no masks.
There are other facts that I learned but prefer my dear sirs that you go, buy the book and read it. You'll throw away all your beliefs about Wall Street and stuff..
The point is not in Wall Street or German Generality. It was just that Bolsheviky tried and were successful in taking power by any means.
