The overall number of reported drug overdose deaths in the United States declined by 3.1% in 2023, the first decrease in 5 years, provisional data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggest. An estimated 107,543 people died from an overdose, down from 111,029 in December 2022.
