There is an trick and professor in college taught me to combat procrastination.
Lets say you are writing a paper (but it really applies to anything), and you just aren't feeling it. Instead of forcing yourself to write, agree instead to just start "editing". It can even be trivial edits, like adjusting paragraph layouts and text spacing.
Before you know it, you will suddenly start writing.
This can be used for all sorts of things: Have a messy garage and don't know where to start? Seems overwhelming? Tell yourself you are just going to throw away one thing and go do that. Before you know it you will start tidying things up.
The key as you say is to practice this "procrastination busting" every day. Cleaning up 1 or 2 things in your garage per day will result in a totally orderly garage in a week or so...and it comes at very minimal effort to you since its broken down into such 'manageable' pieces.
A college professor taught you something useful!

This really works. I post one photo on ~Photography here and then delete it on my iPhone. Makes me feel good that I’m decluttering my photos bit by bit
