Mises was ridiculed for his assertion that “middle of the road” leads to socialism in the end. As the federal government swallows increasing amounts of the economy, we see that Mises was right.
The absolute absurdity of the "middle of the road" socialist concept starts with the idea that property can be defined "halfways", which is strictly an oxymoron, because if there is an entity that can freely decide what's yours and what's not, and when, then you don't own anything, you only have the illusion of property, where you actually have permission to use state property. Socialism is just permissive communism. That should always be brought up.
