Stupid Pacers. I've lost like 6k on them because of those loser-ass decisions. Considering how close they were, and how long the odds were, I think those were the right bets, but being right doesn't get me my sats back.
Now, I'm starting to worry about Dallas winning the whole thing, because they have two guys who always seem to make the right play when it matters.
I wouldn't mind seeing Luka raise Larry. I've always enjoyed watching him play since his rookie year. I mean, with plays like this, how can you not enjoy his game? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F2XO78Qr60
And Kyrie being the magician he is. Whether the Mavs can get to the finals or not, can win it all or not, they are just a fun team to watch.
Good luck on your future bets.

I would rather see Minny win. It’s always nice to have a new team winning it but if Dallas defeats them I will definitely be cheering for the Mavs.
Dallas could have the Mavs and Stars in the Finals. When is the last time that happened?
reply
I picked Minny to win the series also, but couldn't help marveling at Luka and Kyrie's game. Also, these analysts on TV keep saying Ant is gassed from the previous series and whatnot, but what about Luka? The man is playing on a bad shoulder, sore ankle, and a sprained knee. I don't see people talking about that.

Last time it happened in Tampa in 2021. The Buccaneers won the Super Bowl and the Lightning won the Stanley Cup. It was a good year for sports in Tampa.
reply
Yes, I was aware of the Tampa one and the year before the Dodgers and Lakers both won the championship in the same year.
I more meant the same city having two teams vying for a championship at the same time since hockey and basketball finals coincide. I am trying to think of one without looking it up.
reply
I cheated and looked it up. The last time was 2016 when the sharks and warriors were in the cup and nba finals.
reply
I cheated too, haha.

I can't think of one off the top of my head, so I went for the powerful search engine. Here is the list:
1957 - Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins 1958 - Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins 1972 - New York Knicks and New York Rangers 1974 - Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins 1980 - Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers 1992 - Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks 1994 - New York Knicks and New York Rangers 2003 - New Jersey Nets and New Jersey Devils 2016 - Golden State Warriors and San Jose Sharks
reply
You got a full comprehensive list. I only looked for the last one. Nice work.
reply
That's really funny. It seems like we're each sort of rooting against our own financial interests.

What would an economist say about that?

Value comes in different forms and not all can be measured by money? And maybe, sometime, it's not just about the money?
reply
Yep. You nailed it.

Must be all that hiking he does. He has sought and found higher purpose both literally and figuratively.

Well said.

Thanks, I'm only worried about Dallas winning, because then I owe @grayruby a kilosat.
I've come to really enjoy watching them play. Luka's passing is incredible and Kyrie's one of the most stunning players ever.
reply
Dallas about to be my only hope. I would still rather Minny win and just take my L. At least I know my 1k sats will go to a good home.
reply
That's the tough thing with betting. It's costly when the teams you bet on do dumb things. I just get to critique it as an intellectual exercise.
reply
Yeah. I suppose they're heavy underdogs for a reason.
