Elon Musk, like most of us, hopes to take humanity to the stars.

Mars is in our sights, but turning it into a home fit for our habitation is a multi trillion dollar venture called Terraforming.

How do we even start funding something so gargantuan. So likely to backfire before a billion dollars are through doing anything worthwhile?

I am reminded of the space movie - Stowaway - ft. Anna Kendrick. And I remember reading The Cold Equations in my childhood, as a short story. One excess person added to a Mars crew and the entire mission could be jeopadized. So they have to kick that person out. If they do not, then pray it is not the loss of everyone on board.

Going to Mars will be difficult.

Some people might not make it. Nonetheless, when we get there, lost crypto on earth shall remain something still haunting us.

But should it? Haunt us I mean?

Ok. Let's assume we are poised to colonize Mars in the year 2200.

Using the 4% loss function for bitcoins (as published by Cane Island --https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5d580747908cdc0001e6792d/t/5e98dde5558a587a09fac0cc/1587076583519/research%2Bnote%2B4.17.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiVzYXX36uGAxXs_gIHHSd9C-MQFnoECBwQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3rzNcMMf0DSmWy71xH3YsI),

in the 176 years between 2024 and 2200, we shall have lost;

4% * 21,000,000 bitcoins * 176 = 147,840,000 bitcoins!

That' s impossible.

Unless we have been hard forking dem 21 million coins back a few times before the year 2200. I count 7 successful Loca hard forks in approximately 100 years.

So one hard fork every 10 years. Not a bad time frame to ensure you must have hodled.

Basically, use your inheritance at 18 to buy Bitcoin. And throw away the key to avoid the temptation to spend, but not before keeping track of everything in the meanwhile by registering with Loca.LLC.

Come back at age 28 during the hard fork, get returned your coins and the accrued value they will have then, get yourself a woman, a house, and get married. Live on your wealth for the rest of your life and hand the balance to your grandkids as their inheritance.

Assume a static market cap of $1,000,000 for 147 million lost BTC or related crypto (impossible because the market cap shall balloon but let's stay moderate for today. Let's count our losses with some reservations).

Then that amounts to $147 trillion lost!

I'm no expert in the financials of terraforming a planet, but this looks like a lot of money. Enough to do something substantial in a terraforming effort.

Now why not agree, as a globe, to hack those lost coins as a hard fork and give them to the Martians as their startup capital?

I mean, sounds like a nice idea, truly. Instead of them starting by mining new coins in some sensitive-climate-disturbing and precious-energy-guzzling competition as we did on earth with BTC v1.0, the bond of our two cryptocurrencies shall be enough of a pact. For a major positive impact. How do you even sync Bitcoin across a hash horizon bigger than its block mining time?

But I can do a good recap without the quantum hype. The idea really is to put a sort of wrapped bitcoin token on Mars, call it Mars Bitcoin. MBTC.

This token will be synchronized with the bitcoin blockchain so it will be BTC in every sense of the word.

Except a redundancy of its chain on earth will have its clock set 5 minutes behind (on average, we shall follow the Mars-Earth separation cycle though), while a redundancy on Mars (native nodes) will have its clock set 5 minutes ahead.

Because the mean signal propagation time between the two planets is 5 minutes. And that's it.

That's how you do it.

So assume you on Mars and me on Earth want to send coins to someone on earth. Let them be a licenced quantum hacker of lost bitcoin wallets.

The time on Earth is 10:00am.

For me, ETA on earth BTC chains is 10 minutes so they will arrive at 10:10 am. Moreless.

On Mars, your MBTC clock should read 9:55am. Same as the redundancy on Earth. 5 minutes propagation time of the signal plus 10 minutes of mining the transaction in the block.

Now assume they want to send some coins back. Because we sent them too many.

Their clock at the time of signing their send-transaction is 10:15am.

For me, ETA on earth BTC chains is 10 minutes so they will arrive at 10:25 am. Moreless.

On Mars, your MBTC clock should now be reading 10:10am. Same as the redundancy on Earth. 5 minutes propagation time of the signal plus 10 minutes of mining the transaction in the block.

Voila.

Obviously, we are not cheating time here. The synchronized clocks are to ensure the blockchain appears like a seamless whole across so much empty space. But in reality, we have to wait for you each time. Wait for at least 5 minutes.

Could be 10 more minutes on bad days. Hence making MBTC transactions a 20+ minutes slog. It is a small price to pay for peace between 2 planets.

Just synchronize the money, and peace will prevail in the cosmos.

These waiting times may seem like a drag, but they are the most useful waiting times that humans ever need to execute.

Play a video game or something and wait. I hear GTA is good.

Obviously, true Mars time might be way different than the MBTC clock time. But the MBTC will keep Mars tethered to Earth. Because it is a good thing. Only way to keep trust and mutual respect strong across so much empty space.

After this has happened, as mentioned before, an interplanetary Loca parliament (pioneered by Loca8.LLC) will be necessary to help reclaim crypto lost between Earth and Mars. Members of Bitcoin/Crypto Parliament sitting to deliberate on how to help billions of poor people recover their funds from cyberspace is a good thing. Or how to mediate a trade in nodes for decentralized access to value.

It is a sitting to rebuild a damaged cryptoverse regardless of who did it. Even if the people themselves were only careless. This is very important. This willingness to forgive op-sec-lessness and stoic-lessness. Some might argue that it is isn't good. Yes, the Hardmans.

But I see them needing it too. Time defeats all hodlers. Like time turns the nth generation born of Kings and Billionaires into playboys, spoilt rich girls and wimps.

Forgiveness and togetherness is what we need more of. All this racial and group think nonsense is so silly. Corrupt fiat has done it. And more is pumped into our societies every few months. To the trillions of dollars. Funding destruction. We really have fallen from the grand ideals upheld by the men and women of the rennaisance and various golden eras of human thought and intellectual achievement.

And yet today, we have nuclear fission power.

We actually do not need slaves. In the dark past, they needed slaves. Human muscle was the fuel for the socio-economic engine.

We do not need slaves. Yet we enslave each other still.

Enslave each other using not whips and lashes but "opportunities". Like those in Cantillon's effect.

We need to change this ya'll. For our children.

There is another way to finance a Martian conquest. And the trick lies in lost BTC still.

Elon Musk should uncover these tricks. For it will help him have way more support for his mission than he has now.

It will also unlock 100x more voluntary support for Martian conquest than can be realized with a good speech about our need to survive extinction.

100x more surges, all helping him on such a grand mission.

See, one man riding on a capitalist engine fuelled by inflationary fiat can only go so far.

Empower the masses with true money, and impossible things shall truly be done.

I see people in my home town lazing around. Drinking themselves silly and playing all forms of digital lotteries.

Financially emasculated by fiat and its myriad ponzie schemes, they turn to games of chance as a last ditch source of hope to strike it big.

Why, we need money. ‘Twagala Sente’ (Luganda meme). And the only perfectly decentralized money, as we have discussed, is LBTC. Birthed by BTC as we head towards hyperbitcoinization.

Now remember those BTC nodes listed for their LBTC value? Instead of just trading them on Earth, We can expand the game and trade them between Earth and Mars.

The hash horizons will certainly not be easy to merge. But as we have seen with MBTC, it can be done.

An LBTC node shall be transported from Earth to Mars and vice versa during trade.

All nodes shall be kept in sync just in case some coins turn out to not be lost, afterall.

Some rockets and satellites could in fact be retrofitted to be LBTC nodes and some nodes could be born to perfectly sync MBTC and BTC by taking advantage of a hash horizon midway between Earth and Mars. These node-satellites would need to float midway between Mars and Earth.

It's all abstract. I know. But once executed, shall open doors like never before seen.

Terraforming Mars is mostly a matter of cost. And fiat will not cut it. Too high an entropic burn rate to carry us those millions of kilometers to a victorious conquest.
