I missed most of the DOS era -- was on Atari TOS then MacOS in college, and then Windows had settledin as the primary GUI, but I'm fascinated by some of the alternatives that were around.

The first GUI I saw and used was on an Amstrad PC my dad sent me from England. I think I still have to invoke it from the C:/ Prompt.
