Tend to agree. This is an unnecessary change. Negro League had some incredible top end talent but I don’t think the quality across the league was equivalent to MLB.
Negro league, had much less resources. Less capital, inferior scouting, player development, coaching, doctors etc.
It’s ok to admit the negro league was high quality baseball but not mlb caliber. It would be like saying the all time triple A batting champion should be in the record books instead of all time MLB champ.
I wonder if it was someone other than Ty Cobb if they would have made the change.
