Okay what is the difference between pasta and Japanese neopolitan for you?
I just use pasta for all kinds of spaghetti dishes haha

They are made differently. One uses tomato and one uses ketchup/bulldog sauce.

How did your wife prepare it? I am assuming neopolitan because of how it looks. Did she use bulldog sauce? I am actually a fan of the umeboshi pasta. Tastes 100 times better!
