The US economy expanded less than previously estimated at the start of the year. The Commerce Department reported Thursday that Q1 GDP grew at an annualized rate of 1.3%, a downward revision from the initial 1.6%. This is a significant drop from the 3.4% growth in Q4 2023.
Additionally, initial jobless claims rose slightly last week, up by 3,000 to 219,000, according to the Labor Department. Economists had predicted 218,000 claims.
Even after this they are predicting US economy to grow at a rate of 2.6% annually which is way lower than the projections for India and Brazil for the next 10 years. I won't be surprised if India rushes to the second highest GDP in this time frame. US is struggling and I don't believe that the growth rate of GDP can even be back to 2% without any real efforts.
