That's largely because it's so much cheaper. For many industrial applications silver is the next best metal to gold, but it's close enough that gold isn't worth the cost.
There are a couple of properties where silver is the best. If I'm remembering correctly, it's thermal and electrical conductivity, as well as reflectivity.

Yes, and in the industry now it is being widely used.
For solar and high quality electronics.
