I haven't yet found the best, comprehensive historical account of the The Browser Wars and it's a little early to call but I believe something similar is happening among Lightning implementations.
It maps pretty neatly on the surface at least:
- an open standard
- the inevitability of widespread adoption
- businesses with incentives to dominate
I ran a couple twitter polls a few weeks ago about related issues because it looks like the implementations are diverging which effectively means the spec is ossifying (temporarily at least).
