Doctrine of Parens patriae makes sure that the voiceless, abandoned and disabled people are ultimately the responsibility of the State and the State must take all the steps to ensure their well-being as they are not in a position to do so.These times, the family courts and other judiciary bodies have the authority to assign the custody of destitutes to welfare homes run by state, to look after their food, clothing, shelter and health. For example, vagabonds who are rounded up and produced by police before the courts are put in destitute homes by court orders. Similarly family courts order the custody of children unwanted by divorced parents to Child care centers run by state.
