View from Neuschwanstein Castle. Its present appearance comes from the 19th century, when King Maximilian II renovated ruins from a prior castle dating from the 12th century. It was a hunting and summer residence.

Ha ha. Yes, you are right. I enjoy visiting them. Such a powerful structure long time ago, where people could defend from attacks. Pretty useless these days to defend, just places to enjoy and visit to know about past times.
