My grandfather was a Tuskegee Airman, who fought the Nazis over Italy and Germany itself. He earned the respect of his white bomber pilot peers. Yet, when he came home he was denied pilots jobs, jobs reflective of his education, and when he protested too loudly he was falsely charged with theft, which limited his career and employment potential for the rest of his life.
But at least the Tuskegee Airmen's stories have been told. For so many others.
Erased.
